A stranded girl was rescued after dangling down a cable car at a ski resort.

Footage shows the youngster hanging from the gondola seat 20ft above the ground as her jacket was stuck on it at the Hejiagou Ski Resort in Liaoning province, China, on January 29.

Tourists rushed to her aid, with four of them standing below, ready to catch her if she fell.

Soon after, the cable car began working again, and she was lowered to the ground, with the other skiers taking her safely off the gondola.

Resort staff refused to provide further details on the incident, but district officials said the lift was stuck mid-air, and the kid tried to climb down on her own.

They said she tried to remove the seatbelt, but her clothes were stuck and dangled from the gondola.
