A blizzard stranded Chinese New Year travellers on an icy road for 8 hours.

The video was filmed in the city of Chuzhou in Anhui Province on Feberuary 2.

A severe blizzard wreaked havoc on the Nanning- Luoyang Expressway as the road surfaces turned into perilous sheets of ice, bringing vehicles to a grinding halt.

The expressway was transformed into a vast parking lot, with cars unable to move forward.

Stranded drivers attempting to sleep in their frigid vehicles was unbearable, yet running the engine for warmth without being able to close the windows was not an option either.

Eventually, traffic police orchestrated a relief operation, directing vehicles to exit the highway at the nearest off-ramps.

The entire ordeal, from the onset of the traffic jam to the eventual diversion off the expressway, spanned a grueling eight hours.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
