Officials of the Indian Army came to the rescue of a 27-year-old woman who experienced severe chest pain amid heavy snowfall in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir.

This incident happened in a remote village in Kupwara district on February 1.

Visuals showed an official of the army carrying the ailing woman on his back in the midst of the severe snowfall in order to get to her treatment. The other officials followed him as they walked through the area covered in thick snow and despite the cruel weather, it could not deter them from helping the lady. The woman was made to sit around fire and was administered life-saving drugs as well.

According to a report, the 19 Sikh regiment came to the woman's aid and gave her first aid before pulling off a timely evacuation. The harsh weather made it impossible for them to deploy the services of a helicopter and hence the evacuation had to be carried out on foot. The woman's condition was monitored and checked by the Battlefield Nursing Assistants (BFNA) Nursing Assistants (NA) under the guidance of the Regimental Medical Officer (RMO) where she was administered drugs which would enable the evacuation to be conducted by foot.
