Stranded locals crossed a broken bridge destroyed by a flash flood by riding on an excavator bucket.

Footage shows a motorcycle rider sitting inside the heavy equipment after monsoon storms brought widespread damage to Davao Oriental province, the Philippines, on February 3.

The man's motorbike was tied to the attachment and dangled as he and the vehicle were carried across the 15ft-deep pit.

The northeast monsoon and low-pressure area of weather affected the region which caused several national highways and bridges to be damaged, impacting more than 200,000 individuals.

According to the state weather bureau Pagasa, the region will continue to experience heavy rains until the coming weeks.
