Two quick-thinking policemen were praised as heroes for saving the life of a 90-year-old woman suffering from Alzheimer's disease by catching her with their bare hands when she fell from a second-storey window.

Officers from the Chuzhou Police Department, in Mingguang City in Anhui, China, rushed to the scene after receiving a report of an elderly woman sitting dangerously by the window on the second floor of a residential building.

When the officers arrived at the scene, reportedly on January 31, they split into two teams.

One team prepared to break in and rescue the woman, not identified in local media, from inside the building, while the other observed the situation from below.

Just as the cops inside were preparing for the rescue, the elderly woman suddenly leaned forward and fell.

Police officers Li Lei and ChenHongshuo, without time to think, managed to catch her with her bare hands.

Phone footage shows the two policemen breaking the woman's fall with their bodies as both fell on the ground beneath her weight.

The two officers suffered bruises but the elderly person was not in life-threatening danger. She was later examined and cleared by the emergency medical service, Chinese media reported.
