A market's roof collapsed under the weight of snow, killing 1 in southern China.

The aftermath video was filmed in the city of Yiyang in Hunan Province on February 5.

A nearby vendor explained that the local area had been experiencing rain and snow over the past two days. At around 10:00 am on Monday, a sudden loud disturbance was heard, prompting residents to rush outside and discover the collapse of the market roof. Immediate rescue efforts were initiated, and emergency services were contacted.

Around 5:00 pm on the same day, local authorities responded, stating that the incident resulted in 14 people sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

Unfortunately, one person succumbed to injuries despite rescue efforts, while the remaining injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment with no reported life-threatening conditions.

涉事集贸市场附近一商户介绍，近两天当地一直有雨雪，5日上午10时多，他突然听到很大的震动声，等出来看时发现菜市场的顶棚塌了，后来大家赶紧救人并拨打救援电话。
5日下午5时许，当地有关部门回应称，此次事故共造成14人不同程度受伤，其中1人经抢救无效死亡，其余伤者正在医院救治，暂无生命危险。
据了解，自2月4日12时起，益阳市已将低温雨雪冰冻灾害应急响应从Ⅳ级提升至Ⅲ级。
