This is the tense moment a wild cobra stuck inside a square metal pipe was rescued.

Footage shows the tail of the venomous snake poking out of one end of the pipe when it was found by a house owner in southern Thailand.

The old man held a cloth and tried to pull it out by the tail before cutting the metal shorter for easier extraction.

They pulled the serpent out when the pipe was cut and turned it over to local authorities.

Researchers found that 7,000 people are treated for snake bites each year in Thailand. Suchai Suteparuk from the Division of Toxicology at Chulalongkorn University reported that 30 of those die, with cobras being the biggest killer.
