Little girl misheard the Lord's Prayer at school is convinced God's 'real name' is Harold
A mum revealed her daughter misheard the Lord's Prayer at school and was convinced God's 'real name' was Harold.
Montana Sherman-Brown, 32, was putting her daughter, five, to bed when she revealed the cute malapropism.
She'd misheard the line "Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name" as "Harold be thy name"."
Mum-of-two Montana from Sydney, Australia, said she had a giggle and decided not to correct her.
She joked: "She’ll say to me, ‘okay, what actually is god’s name then?’ and I just won’t know what to tell her."
Montana made the discovery when her daughter asked to pray for her family at bedtime.
Despite not being religious, Montana agreed - and asked who she wanted to pray to, on January 24.
She was left "in stitches" after the tot replied "Harold" - insisting she was taught it as "God’s real name". "
Montana, a stay-at-home mum from Sydney, said: "When she first said it to me, I thought it was hilarious - I was like, okay, sure. "
"We’re not a religious family at all - my daughter’s first real experience with religion was going to orientation for her new school, which is Catholic."
"But she loves everything religious now, everything to do with God."
"I feel like kids will say anything to avoid going to sleep."
Montana asked her mum, retiree Lynette Brown, 75, what she could’ve meant by "Harold" and that's when it clicked."
She said: "To be honest, I’m just letting her go with it."
"She’s now got a funny little anecdote for school, and maybe for the kids who are more into religion than she is."
