Volunteer firefighters from the Third Fire Company of Santiago - "Founder Jose Luis Claro Cruz" aided their brother firefighters from the Exchange of Fourth Fire Company of Valparaiso "Admiral Manuel Blanco Encalada" in combating the forest fires that have ravaged the Valparaiso Region. The Vina del Mar Fire Department also joined in the effort to extinguish the fires.

The National Emergency Office (Senapred) Chile has been actively working to address the natural disasters, which have now been declared as catastrophes by local authorities, with several casualties reported. Despite the challenges faced, the solidarity showcased amongst the firefighters has been awe-inspiring and a testament to their courage and spirit.

At least 112 people have been killed by the devastating forest fires in Chile's Valparaiso region, as local authorities confirm. This colossal loss of life has made it the deadliest forest fire on record in Chile. A majority of those affected were visiting the coastal region during the summer holidays.

Due to the scale and destruction of the fires, President Gabriel Boric has declared a state of emergency and vowed to make "all necessary resources" available to tackle the situation. Responding to the crisis, the health ministry has also placed a health alert in Valparaiso.
