This is the dramatic moment a truck's wheels came loose and flew into a roadside shop in Thailand.

The 18-wheeler was coasting along a highway when two of its tyres detached and rolled into the store in Sa Kaeo province on February 3.

CCTV footage shows the pair of wheels bouncing from the flatbed trailer truck and flying across the pavement toward a sticker-cutting shop.

Store owner Ratanawan Onthong, 42, said she narrowly escaped as the ghost wheels crashed through the window and slammed into her desk.

She said: 'I almost died. I was sitting in the store waiting for customers when I suddenly heard a loud bang from the front of the store. Then I felt the whole store shake before a black object crashed through the shop window and flew toward my desk.

'I was so shocked that I barely managed to avoid it. When I came to my senses, I ran out and called my neighbours to come and help me investigate.'

Ratanawan said the tyres had destroyed a shelf and also dented her Nissan vehicle. She estimated the total damage to be 200,000 THB (5,600 USD).

Ratanawan has lodged a report with Khao Chakan Police Station hoping to find the truck driver.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
