Six People and Dozens of Dogs Freed from Swollen River in San Jose, USA
This footage was filmed and produced 6 February 2024.
On 4 February, the San Jose fire officials reported the rescue of six people and several dogs who were stranded on the islands of the rain-swollen Guadalupe River.
One car was seen in the fast-moving water by the fire department spokesperson Jake Pisani near Taylor Street and Highway 87, Guadalupe River Park at 1 pm.
After the rescue teams reached the car, which was unoccupied, they found three people on an island only 300 feet away. The stranded people on the island, who had been camping there, were rescued by an inflatable boat.
Further south in the river, near Autumn Parkway and Coleman Avenue, three people and three dogs were also rescued, including nine puppies. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The San Jose officials had declared a local emergency on Saturday night, signaling the homeless people living on the Guadalupe River to evacuate from the place.
