A group of friends had an extreme picnic - drifting along the river on a bamboo raft complete with a barbecue.

The tourists boarded the wooden vessel and screamed as they floated along the fast-flowing water with the food kept in a basin.

One of them even cooked meat on a clay stove in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on February 3.

Footage shows the adventurous holidaymakers enjoying the unusual ride while grilling meat and vegetables on the side.

Tourist Sarankhun Woottiluck said they spent 500 baht (11.11 GBP) for raft rental and shelled out the same amount for a set of pork barbecue.

She said: ‘We cooked and ate the food in the raft while travelling through beautiful views. It was the most dangerous meal I've ever had.'
