'I smell like s***!' Surfer covered in foul-smelling algae after riding polluted waves in Massachusetts
A surfer complains about the horrid smell after he rode the waves off the coast of Nahant, Massachusetts, which he claims are polluted by raw sewage.
Will Lamb posted the video with the caption: "This is why you don't go surfing after it rains."
The footage shows Lamb's face, body, and board covered in a dark green algae that he stated smelt like "s***".
He told Newsflare: "This was a publicity stunt The area of Lynn is plagued by pollution. Even in dry weather, there is raw sewage that spills out onto Kings Beach from Stacey’s Brook outfall due to a combination of broken pipes and illicit connections in Lynn and Swampscott.
"Then, when it rains and floods, there are combined sewage overflows spilling raw sewage and runoff into Nahant Bay and Lynn Harbour.
"It is not safe to surf or enjoy the water during these events, yet many do anyways and some even run surf camps or promote the area for enjoyment when it is not safe.
"My goal was to bring awareness to this beautiful beach being destroyed by showing people how gross the water really is the towns of Lynn and Swampscott need to be held accountable.
"People like me are becoming sick for just doing what they love and going in the water. This also affects the environment and the Marine life of northern coastal Massachusetts."
