Fish tanks shook during a magnitude 5.4 earthquake in the Philippines on Wednesday afternoon.

Footage shows customers fleeing as aquariums swayed on the shelves at a pet shop in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte province, on February 7.

Philippine seismological agency PHIVOLCS said the quake struck northwest of Pagudpud town, on the northernmost tip of the country's largest island Luzon, at 12:05 pm local time.

The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 30 kilometres and felt in neighbouring provinces, including Ilocos Sur, Isabela, and Cagayan.

PHIVOLCS said damage and aftershocks were expected.

No casualties or injuries have been reported.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
