Residents of Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia have succeeded in creating a tool to convert plastic waste into fuel oil.

After almost a year of research, a resident of Agam district named Musafik named the tool a distelator machine. Musafik said "this tool can produce 200 liters of fuel oil a day by processing dry plastic waste weighing 100 kilo grams,".

Musafik explained, "Before entering the process into the machine, the plastic waste is cleaned and dried, once the dry waste is weighed, it is weighed at 100 kilograms and then burned until it melts, which takes 5 hours.


The results have been obtained, the liquid from the burning of the plastic waste has been distilled to enter the process of separating the sediment from the fuel which takes 24 hours and then a filtering process is carried out to select the liquid into diesel, premium and kerosene fuel oil."

"100 KG of plastic waste produces 25 liters of diesel fuel with a cetane content of 60.8 percent and approximately 60 liters of premium diesel with an octane content of 96 percent and 15 liters of kerosene."

The traveler tried to burn the material with fire and it turned out that the fuel could start a fire.

According to the Agam district government, Afniwirman said, "the tool invented by Mr. Musafik is very helpful for the government in overcoming the difficulty of finding a solution to deal with millions of cubic meters of plastic waste per day at the final waste disposal site,".

To improve the results of the fuel oil produced by the distillator created by Musafik, the government is conducting laboratory tests so that later the fuel oil can be suitable for use and become a solution to the plastic problem.
