Taal Volcano emitted smoke, clouding the sky in Batangas province, the Philippines, early morning on February 6.

Footage shows a white gas plume rising from the volcano at around 6 am today.

Philippine seismological agency PHIVOLCS said there were no volcanic earthquakes recorded, while there was a moderate emission of gas columns up to 900 metres tall.

The volcano had emitted 6911 tonnes per day of sulfur dioxide as of February 5, the agency said.

Residents were warned to be vigilant of possible steam explosions, ashfall, and gas emissions.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
