A 12-year-old girl was rescued after she had fallen into a pit meant for a pillar near the Bina Malkhedi railway station in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

Footage from February 8 shows locals and a rescue team on the scene attempting to retrieve the girl stuck inside a 4-feet-deep narrow pit she fell in whilst playing hide and seek with other children.

The land surrounding the girl named Anshika was dug up and a man was seen drilling into the pit.

Anshika was visibly in a lot of pain, having been stuck in the cramped-up space for a long time and people including a cop held her hand and consoled her as the rescue operation continued.

The 12-year-old was finally freed before being taken to hospital to be medically examined.
