'Jashn-E-Fateh' Dras Winter Carnival comes to an end in northern India

The Dras Winter Carnival 2024, also known as the 'Jashn-E-Fateh' came to a close in northern India's Ladakh.

This incident occurred at the Viswanathan Stadium, or the Old Polo Ground in Kargil in Ladakh on February 6.

Visuals showed the several events taking place in full swing. Ice-hockey, one of the major attractions of the carnival enthralled the spectators. One of these participants waved an Indian flag while skating on the ice. There was some intense competition on the ice-hockey field as the participants competing for their respective teams gave it their all. Besides, there was also a traditional dance performance with participants enhancing the magnificent mood at the carnival by performing with garlands of several shapes and sizes on the stage.

The events were also followed by a prize distribution ceremony where the winners were rewarded for their excellence in the several events. According to a report, this carnival witnessed thrilling competitions like ice hockey and archery. The Himalayan Hawks Red team emerged triumphant in men's ice hockey and Super Star Dras won the men's archery competition. In the women's categories, Himalayan Red won the ice-hockey competition while Goshan Red stood second. The carnival witnessed a vibrant display of cultural diversity which was characterized by performances by the Shina, Balti and Purgi troops which enthralled the audience.

Emerging women's ice-hockey player Nuzhat from Dras was recognised at the event and she expressed gratitude to the Indian army for the opportunity. Among the prominent figures who attended the event were Maj Gen Sachin Malik, GOC 8 Mountain Division, DC Kargil Shrikant Suse, Councillor Bhimbhat Abdul Wahid, Councillor Drass Abdul Samad, and Brigadier Sumeet Abrol. The event was inaugurated with a symbolic pug thrown in the ground by chief guest Rashim Bali, Crop Commander 14 Corps.
