This is the heroic moment a young passerby broke into a restaurant in a bid to extinguish a fire triggered by an electric meter box explosion.

CCTV footage recorded in the city of Ji'An in Jiangxi, China, showed the man identified as Yu Long, passing near the restaurant when he witnessed the electric meter box exploding on February 5.

In the next scene, he can be seen running towards the store and breaking the glass door with a large stone, in order to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher he got from a neighbouring store.

After creating a hole through the door, he then entered inside and swiftly extinguished the blaze, before a young lady joined him to check whether he was okay.

Chinese media reported that the incident happened after the restaurant's owner forgot to cut off the power supply when leaving the place, leading to the electric meter box igniting.
