IDF Discovers Hamas Weapons Cache Inside UNRWA Facilities
This footage was filmed and produced 10 February 2024.
In a joint announcement by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israel Security Agency (ISA), a significant underground Hamas intelligence asset and weapons cache were discovered within United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) facilities in the Gaza Strip.
The operation, which spanned over two weeks and focused on terror targets in northern and central Gaza, resulted in the deaths of approximately 120 Hamas terrorists and the destruction of 20 terrorist infrastructure sites. The forces uncovered a tunnel shaft near an UNRWA school, leading to a 700-meter-long tunnel that served as a crucial asset for Hamas' military intelligence.
The tunnel, located 18 meters deep and containing blast doors, was found to be connected to UNRWA's main headquarters in Gaza. It housed various intelligence assets that will aid in future operations against Hamas targets, significantly weakening their intelligence capabilities.
Additionally, the forces discovered electrical infrastructure inside the tunnel that was connected to UNRWA's main headquarters, indicating that the facilities were supplying electricity to the tunnel.
Based on preliminary ISA intelligence, a targeted raid was conducted on UNRWA's central headquarters, where large quantities of weapons including rifles, ammunition, grenades, and explosives were found in the offices of the building. Intelligence and documents uncovered in the offices confirmed that they had been used by Hamas terrorists.
These revelations have raised concerns about the potential exploitation of humanitarian facilities by terrorist organizations, highlighting the challenges faced by security forces in combatting such threats. The uncovering of these assets underscores the ongoing security risks in the region and the need for continued vigilance in protecting innocent civilians from harm.
