Fourteen tourists were injured while the driver was killed when a minivan crashed in Thailand.

Thirteen holidaymakers from Denmark were headed to a full moon beach party when the vehicle they boarded veered off the road and plunged into a cliff in Mae Hong Son province on February 9 evening.

Footage shows rescuers helping Danish tourists off the wrecked car that flipped to its side.

Their local tourist guide and driver, Baramee Panjachaiya, 50, was taken to Pai Hospital shortly after midnight but later died from fatal injuries.

Meanwhile, Danish tourists identified as Louis Blicher Weiendorph Pedersen, 23, Natasja Moseholt Petersen, 19, Mikkel Tangaa Lauritzen, 20, Josefine Oline Boe Nielsen, 20, Annika Meyenburg Duus, 22, Helena Roed Hansen, 19, Nicoline Toettrup Hansen, 20, Simon Skat Astrup, 22, Zoe Bouweriks, 20, Sarah Laybourn Jensen, 21, Celine Sprogoe Sandau, 24, Laura Bjornstrup Madsen, 21, and Frederik Gerner Kjaer Rahbek, 21, were injured and taken to different hospitals across the province.

Four of them were taken to Chiang Mai Ram Hospital, five were admitted to Pai Hospital, and the other four had minor injuries, so they were discharged earlier.

Tourist and provincial police said they had assisted the Danish visitors in handling their documents with the hospital and arranging transportation for them.

Mae Hong Son Tourist Police officer Suwit Boonyaphen said: ‘The crash happened between the Mae Ya and Mae Ping checkpoint. Volunteer rescue organisations came to assist as well as medical teams from the hospitals.'

Investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
