An outrage erupted as a black bear cub was dragged to the ground in a circus escape attempt in eastern China.

The video was filmed in Dongying City in Shandong Province on February 10. A cub can be seen darting back and forth within the wire mesh enclosure, nearly managing to leap out. However, a trainer swiftly intervened, pulling the bear back and causing it to fall to the ground. Some spectators panicked and fled the area in fear.

Officials from the Chengnan Temple Fair stated that no one was injured during the incident. They also mentioned that all fierce animals such as tigers and lions had been removed from the fairgrounds, suggesting that the bear's erratic behaviour might have been due to psychological distress caused by the long journey.

Many netizens expressed their anger and concern over the treatment of the bear, highlighting the dangers and stress involved in forcing animals to perform in such settings. Calls for an end to animal performances gained momentum, with numerous netizens demanding that authorities take action to prohibit such practices.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
