A huge stingray interrupted a mermaid as she performed inside a giant aquarium.

Footage shows the massive marine animal emerging in front of professional swimmer Amarie Tolentino as she waved and posed for kids and their parents at the marine park in Manila, the Philippines, on January 1.

The marine creature was curious and accidentally blocked Amarie from the view of the visitors, who were amused as it seemed to have stolen the show from the mermaid.

It swam upwards and momentarily paused before the mermaids did a synchronised underwater swimming, only for it to swim back again in front of them.

Mermaid Amarie said: ’We were delightfully surprised when we saw the video after the show.
‘I thought it was an awesome gift from the stingray, and it made me feel the stingray had a connection with me.’
