A massive wildfire ripped through a forest in northeast Thailand.

The blaze broke out in the Khao Makha area of the Khon Buri National Forest Reserve in Nakhon Ratchasima province on February 10.

Firemen and volunteers made firebreaks to keep the flames from encroaching on residential areas on February 11.

Peerawat Theerawatthana, Khonburi District Chief, said officers faced difficulties battling the fire, which had spread to steep cliffs and remote areas.

He said most of the fire has died down, but residents were still creating firebreaks for safety.

Authorities said the wildfire had ravaged more than 500 rais of forest as of February 12.
