Police in Haryana are using water jets, road spikes, and tear gas to disperse protesting farmers attempting to reach Delhi.

Footage from February 13 shows the police roadblock at Khanauri, on the border between Punjab and Haryana.

The farmers are demanding minimum food prices and are attempting to march towards Delhi which has been shut down by police.

The police in northern India's Haryana have resorted to the use of smoke bombs and water jets to dispel the protesting farmers.

This incident happened at the Khanauri border on February 13.

Visuals showed the cops firing jets of water to dismiss the farmers who were protesting, from the area. Scores of farmers arrived in tractors to the national capital to protest but were unable to proceed forward with the entry paths to the capital being guarded by heavy security. A host of forces stood behind a barricades wall with the protesting farmers on the other side.

Nails were erected on the road and the farmers hence unable to progress much. They instead sat near those rails and raised slogans of their protest. Cops also were spotted in the area. As per a report, As per a report, the farmers are protesting for the government to guarantee a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their crops.

This was a condition which was agreed upon in 2021 when farmers called off their protest. Also, they have sought justice for victims of the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri in 2021 which led to the deaths of eight people, leaving several injured. Moreover, the farmers have also sought the implementation of the recommendations by the MS Swaminathan committee on agriculture, which sought the increase of MSP to 50 per cent above the weighted average cost of production. The farmers are also seeking a pension of Rs 10,000 ( USD 124.46) per month for those above 60 years of age and also more prices for sugarcane.
