Altar servers cross river while carrying baby Jesus statue
Catholic altar servers crossed a muddy river while carrying a statue of the infant Jesus.
Footage shows three sacristans standing on a raft in Kapatagan, Lanao Del Norte, the Philippines, on December 26.
One sacristan held and pulled a rope above their head to move the raft.
They managed to balance themselves to avoid falling into the water and successfully crossed the river.
John Mark T. Lesmoras, who captured the video, said it was proof of the power of Jesus that they were able to make it across safely.
The country is predominantly Roman Catholic population and observes the longest Christmas celebration in the world that begins as early as September.
The Holy Infant is brought by altar servers to a Catholic home to honor and show respect by the family members.
They greet and kiss the statue, and often offer a small donation to the church.
