This video shows Russian mortar units purportedly disrupting the rotation of Ukrainian soldiers in a special mission.

Soldiers from Russia's Central Military District allegedly struck a group of Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen, who were discovered by reconnaissance officers in the area of Lyman, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, on February 8.

They used the82-millimetre 2B9 Vasilek 'Cornflower' gun mortar to carry out the alleged attack.

Russia's Ministry of Defence said in a statement obtained by Clipzilla: 'In several bursts, the mortar crew defeated the manpower of the units of Ukrainian nationalists who were rotating personnel at the strong point and trying to change from the firing position.

'The success of this combat work was made possible through close cooperation with forward reconnaissance observers and reconnaissance drone operators.

'Artillerymen of the central military district group of troops emphasise the high efficiency of the Vasilek mortar due to the ability to work both at point targets and against area targets, similar to multiple launch rocket systems.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
