A motorist swerved at the last second to avoid hitting a deer that was standing on a road in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland.

Dashcam footage shows the motorist driving at night with their car's beam lights illuminating a section of road ahead.

After passing a car on the right, they encounter a deer standing in the road. Fortunately, their quick reactions managed to see them swerve away from the wild animal.

The driver said: "Traveling along a back road in the dark, a car in the distance is travelling slowly and comes to a stop.

"They give me a small flash that I took as a friendly hello after they pulled over to give me room to pass so I return the gesture.

"I realised after I turned back on my high-beam lights that they were warning me of the deer in my path. I swerved to avoid it narrowly."
