Brave taxi driver and family rescue motorists trapped in mud in China
A courageous taxi driver and his family rescued stranded motorists from mud in southern China.
The video was filmed in the city of Changsha in Hunan Province on February 5.
A 46-year-old taxi driver Hu Aijun, along with his wife and two sons, embarked on a treacherous journey home. Battling the elements, they drove slowly and painstakingly through the snow, reaching the stretch of National Highway 354 near Baitian Town after 9:00 p.m., with just over 20 kilometres left to their destination.
Hu's vigilance caught a fresh set of tire tracks veering off the road towards a water-filled paddy field. Trusting his instincts, he decided to investigate.
This decision led to the timely discovery of a small car, overturned and mired in mud, its wheels pointing skyward. Without hesitation, Hu and his family sprang into action—some rushing to aid the trapped passengers, while others called for help from nearby residents. The local community, upon hearing the news, quickly joined in the rescue efforts.
Together, they managed to save a family of four trapped inside the vehicle, including a 1-year-old baby.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Hu expressed a heartfelt joy despite the freezing conditions, "Although it was bitterly cold, saving those lives brought immense happiness!"
The video was provided by local media with permission.
