This is the disturbing moment pet groomers were allegedly captured beating a dog at a salon in India.

Heartbreaking footage shows cruel staff appearing to batter a Chow Chow named Tofu, 3, at the Vetic Pet Clinic in Thane, Maharashtra.

The men recorded themselves repeatedly punching the helpless pooch in the face and body as it cowered and struggled to escape the blows.

A complaint was lodged against the groomers on Tuesday, February 13, when footage of the brutal abuse emerged online.

Vidit Sharma, founder of local animal welfare 'Save a Stray', said: 'An appalling incident has taken place at the Vetic Vet Clinic in Mumbai Thane.

'Those responsible for such acts of abuse should be incarcerated. It is crucial to conduct thorough background checks before hiring grooming staff.

'This behavior is utterly repugnant—no pet should ever be subjected to such mistreatment.'

Local media reported that the two groomers have been arrested.

Girish Gode, senior inspector of the Chitalsar police station, said: 'The incident occurred nearly a week ago before the video surfaced.

'Thane Municipal Corporation's vet Dr Kshama Shirodkar noticed the video and lodged a formal complaint with us. Based on the complaint, we booked them under Section 11 (1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. It is a non-cognisable offence.'

Vetic, a chain of veterinary care tech-driven pet clinics based in six cities—Gurgaon, Noida, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Mumbai, and Bengaluru—claims to be the leading pet healthcare service in India.

Its founder Gaurav Ajmera said in a statement: 'This is a deeply disturbing incident involving a pet and two of our groomers. As pet parents and animal lovers, this is shocking and completely unacceptable to us.

'As a first step, we have immediately terminated both of them and launched a formal investigation into this. We are also working alongside the authorities and have initiated police action in this matter.

'We understand the trust you place in us when you choose Vetic for your furry baby's care, and we are committed to upholding that trust with the highest standards of compassion and professionalism.'
