An ancient village's fish lantern festival lighted up the Chinese New Year with tradition and joy in eastern China.

The video was filmed in Shexian County in Anhui Province on February 11.

A village came alive with the glow of hundreds of fish lanterns on the evening of February 11, marking the annual celebration of the village's Fish Lantern Festival, a tradition that has illuminated the village streets for an impressive 1,300 years.

As the second day of the Chinese New Year unfolded, both villagers and tourists alike were seen navigating the narrow alleys and streets of Zhanqi Village, each person holding aloft their unique fish lanterns, creating a sea of lights.

The larger-than-life fish lanterns, carried by the members of the village's Fish Lantern Association, led a procession that seemed to weave the fabric of the community tighter with every step. Following in their wake, others joined with smaller fish lanterns and floral lanterns.

This year's Fish Lantern Festival commenced on February 11th and is set to cast its glow until February 27th, inviting all who wish to partake in its ancient tradition.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
