IDF's 162nd Division Raid Eliminates Hamas Soldiers in Gaza
This footage was filmed and produced 15 February 2024.
In a daring and intense fortnight of fighting, the IDF's 162nd Division forces successfully completed a targeted raid in the northern Gaza Strip. Operating in the Al-Shati area, the forces, which included the 401st Brigade, the Nahal Brigade, the 5th Brigade, and special forces, swiftly crossed Gaza City and gained operational control of the area within hours. This operation showcased the weakened state of Hamas in northern Gaza, a direct result of the IDF's presence and strategic offensive operations.
Utilizing a new operating method of offensive operations, the soldiers conducted clearing operations, located intelligence materials, seized weapons, and eliminated operatives. Notably, they discovered and destroyed an underground tunnel beneath UNRWA's headquarters that served as a Hamas intelligence asset.
The operation was supported by artillery, aerial, and naval fire cover, with the 215th Fire Control Center orchestrating aerial support that struck approximately 150 combat and artillery targets, destroying rockets, weapons, and infrastructure.
Commanding Officer of the 162nd Division, BG Itzik Cohen, provided insights into the operation, emphasizing the success and strategic importance of the mission.
