Four injured in massive blaze at paint and chemical godowns in northern India

As many as 11 people were killed and four injured in a massive fire that broke out at a paint and chemical godowns in northern India’s Delhi.

The incident took place in outer Delhi's Alipur on February 15.

Visuals showed the fierce fire had broken out in a factory, engulfing the surroundings in thick, ominous black smoke that loomed heavily in the air, spreading across the sky and nearby areas.

“The fire was in two paint and chemical godowns, resulting in the death of 11 persons and 4 injured. The deceased have been moved to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital and the four injured persons have been moved to Raja Harish Chandra Hospital,” the fire department.

The DFS official said a call about the fire was received around 5:30 pm on Thursday and 22 fire tenders were pressed into service.

The blaze was brought under control by 9 pm, he said, adding that 11 charred bodies were recovered from the factory premises.

The identity of those killed is yet to be ascertained.
