1.2 million fentanyl pills were found hidden in beehives in Sinaloa, Mexico

Footage shows the drugs that were found in bee hives in Sinaloa. One million 210 thousand fentanyl pills, 70 kg of methamphetamine and 5 kg of cocaine were seized.

This is the moment police in Mexico reveal the world's biggest honeytrap as they uncover more 1.2 million fentanyl pills hidden in beehives by a drug cartel.

The haul was seized after police in the state of Sinaloa were tipped off that couriers were delivering drugs guarded by swarms of bees

Local media reported that officers had stopped a vehicle on the Culiacan-Los Mochis Highway on 5th February after receiving an anonymous tip.

They arrested the driver, named only as Aczel 'M', after finding that the hives he was transporting actually contained more than 1.2 million fentanyl pills.

Media obtained a statement from the Mexican Attorney General's Office on 5th February, saying: "According to the investigation, elements of the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM), of the AIC, in response to an anonymous complaint, moved to the vicinity of the 'El Pisal' toll highway on the Culiacan-Los Mochis Highway, Sinaloa, where they stopped a car driven by Aczel 'M', who was transporting wooden boxes with honeycombs.
