"This is our summer dormitory, which is relatively compact. Summer team members basically work from December to February every year. All the furniture, such as cabinets for storage, beds, and writing desks, were assembled in China and transported to the Antarctica later, which can ensure high construction efficiency and reduce the construction waste to the lowest level on site."
Besides 28 rooms for the summer team, there are 16 rooms designed for the winter team at the Qinling Station.
As the winter team members have to work in the station for more than one year every mission, their rooms are much larger, with specially selected light colors such as yellow and white to create a comfortable environment.
According to Zhu, the keycard of every room is connected with the intelligent management system of the whole station.
China's Qinling Station in Antarctica, the country's fifth research station in the continent, has been put into use since Feb. 7.
