A shocked passenger recorded the chaotic scene when he arrived in the Southeast Asian country for a holiday on November 18.
It comes as the operator of Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) this week vowed to add more staff to ease the congestion caused by tourists arriving from around the world - a problem compounded by the country's antiquated systems and persistence with hiring police and army officials to staff airports.
Airports of Thailand (AOT) President Keerati Kijmanawat told Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin that there had been a 30 per cent shortage of staff at immigration counters but managers who now adding an extra 200 officials to cope with the deluge.
An automatic passport-checking system with scanning machines is also being rolled out for departing passengers following criticism of the airport by the Prime Minister last year.
