This footage was filmed and produced 17 February 2024.

In a recent update from Caltrans District 1, a video was released showing a slide of the ground and falling trees at Last Chance Grade in Del Norte County.

As of 8:20 am on Saturday, February 17th, US 101 was open at Last Chance Grade with one-way traffic control in place, causing 30-minute delays for drivers. Crews were on scene clearing debris from the rock slide.

However, just an hour earlier at 7:20 am, US 101 was fully closed at Last Chance Grade due to an active rock slide. There was no estimated time for the road to reopen as crews continued to work on clearing the debris from the dynamic slide.
