A car plunged into a pond when the driver forgot to pull the handbrake before taking a trip to the loo.

Surveillance footage captured the motorist rushing towards the white vehicle as it rolled into the fishing pond in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, China, around 1:32 pm on February 11.

During the unsuccessful attempt to intervene, the man could be seen falling to the ground as he realised he had forgotten to engage the handbrake.

The clip also shows him rising from the ground and moving towards the edgeof the pond, watching as the car sank to the bottom.

A person who witnessed the sight, told Chinese media: 'The fellow fisherman forgot to use the handbrake and the car sliddown the steps and fell into the fish pond.'

The driver, identified as Gu, then reportedly immediately jumped intothe water to assess the extent of the damage. The vehicle was later retrieved to the surface by a crane.
