On February 15, hundreds of Amazon workers gathered in picket lines outside the BHX4 fulfilment centre in Coventry, demanding fair wages and better working conditions. Approximately 400 striking GMB union members held up workers entering the Amazon depot, urging them not to cross the picket line.

The striking workers chanted slogans such as "No work today" and "What do we want? £15," as they continued to gather support for their cause.

Since the summer of 2022, over 1,000 workers at BHX4 have joined the GMB union, despite management's attempts to discourage unionization. The company has reportedly tried to sway workers away from the union, offering minimal incentives to cross the picket line.

Despite Amazon's resistance, pay at the Coventry fulfilment center has already seen an increase from £10.15 to £12.50, a 23% rise. The workers remain steadfast in their demands for fair wages and better treatment.

The strikes have garnered support from workers at other Amazon sites, including the newly-opened Minworth site near Birmingham. Solidarity among Amazon workers across Britain is seen as essential in the ongoing struggle for equitable pay and working conditions.
