Traffic control on highways in northern China amid snow and freezing rain
Video filmed today on Feb 21 showed that due to widespread rainfall, snow, and freezing rain across the province, the Shaanxi Provincial Public Security Traffic Police Corps decided to implement traffic controls on all highways, with all entrances and exits closed to vehicles. Vehicles already on the highways were directed to exit at the nearest opportunity to ensure road safety, with further updates to be provided on when restrictions will be lifted.
Affected by the snow and freezing rain, approximately 100 vehicles became stranded on the Yulan Expressway in the Lantian section since the evening of February 20th. Following directives from the Provincial Public Security Traffic Police Corps, on the afternoon of February 21st at 4:30 p.m., traffic police from Xi'an High-speed and Weinan High-speed, along with Shaanxi Traffic Control, deployed measures including speed reduction zones and police escorts to guide vehicles towards Xi'an and Shangluo. Vehicles bound for Xi'an were diverted at Tianwang Toll Station, while those headed to Shangluo were escorted along the Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway to the southern entrance of Bayuan Tunnel, where they were further escorted by Shangluo High-speed traffic police to ensure safe passage through icy and snowy sections of the road.
