Hikers walked through an oddly terrifying Lord of the Rings-style forest in the Philippines.

Footage shows the nature explorers passing through the trail filled with giant hardwood trees covered in moss in Mount Dulang Dulang in Bukidnon province on January 20.

The spot, located within the Kitanglad mountain range at its highest elevation peak, looked similar to the epic fantasy series by British author J.R.R. Tolkien that was adapted into a trilogy film.

Travel guide King Arthur Imana said: ‘The mossy forest was popular among hikers. We offer tours of the place and always go there because of its beauty.'

The Lord of the Rings is an epic fantasy novel written by J.R.R. Tolkien and originally published in three volumes in 1954. It became an extremely popular and influential work of fiction. It takes place in Tolkien's elaborately developed fantasy world known as Middle-earth, featuring humans, elves, wizards, hobbits, orcs, and other creatures.
