An artist carved out dried leaves to make beautiful portraits of his friends and loved ones.

Deejay Gregorio pressed the leaves he collected from the hardwood in his backyard and used a sharp tool to cut details in Camarines Sur province, the Philippines.

Compilation footage shows Deejay cutting out parts of the leaf to reveal an image of a man and a young woman.

He started doing the craft for people close to him until he opened an online shop to take commissioned works as more asked him to make it for them.

He said: ‘It started as a hobby but I am happy that it has given me an opportunity to make more income. I enjoy making each one of them.'

Leaf carving is a type of art where delicate designs and patterns are hand-carved into the surfaces of dried plant leaves.
