Furious passengers yelled at airport staff when their flight to Japan was cancelled - leaving them stranded in the terminal.

Air Japan's Flight NQ2 was scheduled to depart from the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok to Narita International Airport (NRT) in Tokyo at 00:15 am on February 22.

But it was delayed for three hours and then cancelled due to technical issues.

Passengers vented their anger at the airport gate. They said the airline did not provide a rescheduled flight or options with other carriers.

Air Japan, a recently launched Japanese low-cost airline, commenced operations with its inaugural flight from Tokyo to Bangkok on February 9.

The airline is a subsidiary of All Nippon Airways (ANA).

However, with only one Boeing 787-8 in its fleet, Air Japan had no alternative aircraft available to provide a replacement flight.

Additionally, the return flight NQ1 from Narita Airport to Bangkok and flights NQ21 and NQ22 between Tokyo and Incheon, and vice versa, were also cancelled.

The airline said this was due to the limited availability of aircraft, with only one plane servicing all four flights.
