Cargo ship collides with bridge killing two in China

At least two people were killed when a cargo ship collided with a bridge in China.

The vessel struck the Lixinsha Bridge causing it to snap in half in Guangdong province today, February 22.

Footage shows a section of the bridge deck missing following the crash.

The Guangzhou maritime search and rescue centre said two cars fell into the Pearl River Delta, while three other vehicles landed on the ship after the collision.

Two people were killed, a crew member was injured, and two more have been rescued. Three other people were missing.

Chinese state media reported the cause of the accident is being investigated, and rescue operations were ongoing.
