In a joint operation between the Civil Guard and the National Police, a drug trafficking network in Algeciras, Cadiz, was dismantled, with 518 kilograms of cocaine intercepted and seven individuals involved in the shipment arrested. The cocaine confiscated in this operation is valued at more than $60 million.

The drug arrived at the Port of Algeciras inside a container that had been contaminated by the blind hook or rip off method, and was intercepted in an industrial estate in the town. The traffickers were caught in the act as they were preparing to unload the cocaine from the container.

After receiving an international alert about the container's cargo, a surveillance operation was set up around it to intercept those responsible for the criminal operation. During the drug extraction, six individuals were arrested and nine bundles with a total weight of 518 kilograms of cocaine were seized.

In addition to the illicit substance, two high-end vehicles intended for transporting the drugs were confiscated. Six of the detainees have been ordered to be remanded in custody, and the investigation is ongoing to identify other potential participants in the criminal network.

The Special Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office in the Campo de Gibraltar has been briefed on the case progress, and further arrests related to this drug trafficking operation in Algeciras are not ruled out.
