The temple town of Ayodhya is all set to emerge as Uttar Pradesh's maiden solar city with a 40-megawatt (MW) solar plant anticipated to commence operations by March 2024.

The solar plant has been established at a distance of about 4 kilometers from Ayodhya Dham. NTPC has prepared this first solar plant on 165 acres of land. This is the first largest plant in UP and the third largest plant in India. It will produce 40 MW electricity and this will meet 30% of Ayodhya's electricity requirement. The effort is to increase the power generation capacity of this plant so much that all the power needs of Ayodhya can be met through it.

This will definitely prove to be a milestone in meeting the energy needs of developing India.

NTPC Deputy Manager Praveen Kumar said that this project is of 40 MW, it is a big project in itself. This is a big project for sensitive people, currently Ayodhya city is being developed. Right now there is only 30% demand, it is from Ayodhya city, it will be completed. We are going to adopt solar energy in future, I guess we are moving fast in this direction.

To eliminate electricity dependence, the government is promoting solar energy. For this, the Central Government has also started PM Surya Ghar Yojana. Solar energy is a source of energy that will never end. Now the Indian government is laying full emphasis on its use as an alternative energy source.
