STORYLINE:
A van collided with a tractor trolley on Thursday in Lodhran district of Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, leaving six people dead and 16 others injured, local police said.
Police said that the van carrying a wedding party rammed into the tractor trolley parked on the roadside in Dunyapur area of the district.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted bodies, including three women, two men and one child, and the injured to a nearby hospital.
Medics said women and children were among the injured, fearing that the death toll might further rise as seven of the wounded were in critical condition.
Police registered a case against the owner of the tractor-trolley for criminal negligence.
