Antony J. Blinken And Diana Mondino At a Joint Press Availability in Buenos Aires, Argentina
This footage was filmed and produced 23 February 2024.
In a press conference with Foreign Minister Diana Mondino and after meeting with President Javier Milei, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken gave details of the one-on-one meeting he had with the libertarian leader and said it was a "highly productive" meeting. At the Casa Rosada, the official warned: "Dollarization is a decision that depends on Argentina".
The statements made by the official of Democrat Joe Biden's administration took place within the framework of his two-day visit to Argentina aimed at strengthening bilateral relations. Before the press, the U.S. official added that "the President's time and the depth of the conversation reflect the interest in deepening and strengthening the ties between countries".
He also said: "We see extraordinary potential in Argentina" and then went on to detail: "Perhaps the most important thing is that Argentina has what the world really needs and we want to be partners as it helps to feed and provide energy to the world".
In this framework, the Secretary of State highlighted that the United States expects to "expand the partnership with Argentina in the months and years to come" and, on the other hand, he thanked Milei's support to Israel, an action that in his opinion allowed the release of Argentine hostages. "The bottom line is that the United States and Argentina are working together on almost every issue of importance to our people, but also to people around the world," Blinken remarked. "We are working for a just and lasting peace. We are grateful that two Argentines were rescued this month, we want all hostages to come home," he added.
