Baby sea turtle hatchlings being released to the ocean in Baja California Sur
In Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico, there is a beach called Tortugueros Las Playitas A.C. where baby sea turtle hatchlings are released every night during hatching season (December to April). Visitors can watch the little creatures scurry and hustle towards the ocean and cheer them on until they are swept into the ocean by waves! Sea turtles have a very very low rate of success at reaching adulthood, so helping hatchlings reach the ocean helps give them a little more of a chance by making sure they are not eaten by seabirds along the way to the water.
