A 24-year-old young man in the city of Padang, Indonesia, has succeeded in turning plastic waste into valuable and beautiful items, namely furniture such as chairs, tables, flower pots, wall clocks and glass cup reasons.

Rovans explained, "I bought this plastic waste from residents who contributed to looking for discarded plastic waste, then sorted it to match the colour, such as yellow, blue and white plastic, then the waste was crushed like powder, now we use this powder. put it in a mould and then burn it in a heating machine,". "Later, the powdered plastic waste which is heated for 50 minutes - 1 hour with a temperature reaching 50 Celsius will harden into a rectangular shape, then be finished and shaped like a circle to become chairs and tables or other furniture items,".

Rovans has been carrying out this action for about a year, in one day he can make 8 chairs or tables using 50 KG of plastic waste as raw material. One chair of his work is priced at IDR 300,000 to IDR. 500,000.

Currently, Rovans is marketing its products through social media which has increased orders from restaurants, hotels and cafes.

The innovation carried out by this man enabled him to achieve a monthly turnover of IDR 20,0000,000.

He hopes that his innovation can be a solution in anticipating the processing of plastic waste and reducing the use of wood in furniture.
